Casco Totes didn’t start as a fashion brand. We started out in the sail-making business. In fact, back in 1987, we were busy sewing and building sails out on the coast of Maine, taking pride in the craftsmanship and the reward of seeing something you made in action. That experience laid the groundwork for everything we do now.
In 2008, during the recession, we shifted gears and started making tote bags using recycled sails, and we haven’t looked back since. We still work out of South Freeport, and we still strive to recycle up to 90% of every sail we use. We’re not into waste, and we are into giving old materials a second life with style.
