Recycle Your Sail

Creating Your Custom Casco Tote

Every sail carries the memory of the wind, the salt, and the seasons. At our South Freeport sail loft, we give those stories a second life. There is a profound sentiment in carrying a piece of your own nautical history, and we invite you to ship your cherished sails directly to us for a custom transformation.

HOW IT WORKS

01. Reach Out

Before you head to the post office, we start with a conversation. Send us a message or give us a call to discuss the type of sail you have and what kind of bags or accessories you envision.

02. Shipping

Once we’ve confirmed the project is a go, you’ll ship your sail directly to our loft in South Freeport. We recommend a tracked shipping method to ensure your history arrives safely in our hands.

03. Sail Inspection

Every sail undergoes a meticulous inspection upon arrival to ensure its fibers remain strong enough for a second life. Should we find the material too brittle or UV-damaged for a bag, we will reach out to discuss alternative ways to honor your sail’s legacy.

04. Custom Crafting

Our artisans hand-cut and sew your bag right here in the loft. We clean the cloth while respecting its history, ensuring it retains that authentic "salty" soul while being fresh enough for daily use.

05. Homecoming

Your sail returns to you in its new form. Whether it’s a rugged duffel for weekend trips or a sleek tote for the farmer's market, it is ready to begin a second lifetime by your side.

Why Recycle Sailcloth?

A sail is more than just fabric; it is a witness to every voyage, every sunset, and every storm your vessel has weathered. When a sail is retired from the sea, its journey doesn't have to end.

By repurposing your personal sail, you aren't just getting a bag. You are preserving a legacy. The unique patina, the original stitching, and the character of the cloth become a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art that you can carry every day.
